The BBC programme last night on the history of the guitar, with Alan Yentob, was mildly entertaining but I think it could have been a lot better. Maybe it just depends on who your heroes are, but it just seemed to be neither one thing nor the other. Never quite got going.
However there was a nice wee exchange at one point where Yentob was seeking clarification on the whole Air Guitar competition thing, from some bloke that was organising one.
Bloke: "An air guitar is not 'no guitar'. It's a guitar made of air - and therefore invisible. If you get up there and you don't have an air guitar, you're not going to win."
AY: "So...you have to look like you really have an air guitar?"
Bloke: "No - you have to have an air guitar."
