Aye, it nearly worked, but it didny

What I would normally have done when things weren't working out - recently at any rate - was get annoyed, go back to bed, lie there until lunchtime and then do a bit of bad tempered gardening and have a few beers in the afternoon.

I'm pleased to report however that I just got on with it and decided that it was simply an opportunity to do something else. So I reorganised the sandwich supplies, piled both dugs into the car and headed for Ben Venue.

I got a reasonable bit of off-lead heel work done with them on the walk up from the car park, and then we had an enjoyable, if rather damp walk through the woods and then up the glen. Once up past the waterfall at the head of the glen it became ridiculously windy. It was extremely hard just to stay upright, and let's face it, my centre of gravity is such that I don't blow over easily. Goodness knows what the winds would have been like up high above Glen Feshie.

We got a good four hours walk out it, the dogs had fun and I was back in the hoose by half two. I must admit though that I was puggled when I got home. I don't think it was just the lack of hill fitness, because although I haven't been out for weeks I'm not usually that exhausted after Ben Venue. Looking back, the doctor said that yon virus or whatever it was would take a couple of weeks to wear off, so maybe that was something to do with it.

Or maybe it's that I drink too much beer.

Whatever. I got up, I got organised and I got out for a walk. I can feel a Munro coming on.

  1. Wondered what had happened after the last post about Jorja. I assume the eye infection cleared up ok then?

Know what you mean about the wind on Ben Venue. That wee coll beyond the waterfall before you turn upwards sharp right for the run up to the summit is a real sod when there's strong wind from the SW.

Re the virus it's a killer going up hills too soon afterwards. Did it last year going up Glas Beinn Mhor and just about blew a fuse...nothing in the legs at all.

  2. Oddly enough, her eyes seemed fine until today Ken, and now they've gone a bit weepy again. I'll maybe share my antibiotics with her if it doesn't clear up by tomorrow.

Seriously though, it doesn't seem to be bothering her. I'll review the position in the morning. We've no' had a vet bill for a whole fortnight now.

    ;o)
