Ptarmigan Camouflage Oversight

I can sympathise. It's getting to the end of a long winter; you're tired; and all you really want to do is to concentrate on staying put on the few remaining patches of snow, waiting for your winter plumage to fade. Until it does, your seasonal invisibility remains pretty much infallible.

Unless you're wandering about on the skyline, of course.

  3. Ptarmigan are just great birds.... even when sticking out like a sore thumb on the ridge.

Was the wee black dug running away from it?

  4. It's a difficult one to work out, I admit - she's just so black that it's hard to get a proper photie - but to my shame she was definitely going uphill, deaf to all recall commands.
